Terms of service
Version 1 · 9 September 2026 · applies from the day you first sign in
The short version
You pay monthly to use StagingPlan. You can stop whenever you like and you keep working until the month you have paid for runs out. Nothing you have typed is ever deleted because you left, and you can export all of it at any time — including after you have stopped paying.
The furniture, the jobs, the photographs and your clients' details are yours. We hold them for you. We do not sell them, mine them, or show them to anybody else.
This summary is here because it is the part most people will read. The clauses below are the actual agreement, and where the two ever disagree the clauses win.
1. Who you are dealing with
StagingPlan is operated by Boing Media Limited, a New Zealand company (company number 1614008, NZBN 9429034871157) of Auckland, New Zealand. In these terms that company is “we” or “us”, and the staging company subscribing is “you”.
You can reach a person at [email protected]. That address is read by the person who built the software, and it is the fastest way to get anything sorted.
2. What StagingPlan is
Software for running a home staging business, used in a web browser. It keeps track of what furniture you own, where each piece is, which house it is in and when it is due back; it turns that into proposals you send to vendors and agents, and into invoices. There is no app to install and no hardware.
It is sold as a subscription, per staging company, with no limit on how many people at your company use it and no limit on how much you put in it.
3. The free trial
A new company gets fourteen days free. We do not ask for a card to start it, so there is nothing to cancel and nothing to forget — the trial simply ends.
When it ends, your account becomes read-only. You can still sign in, still see everything, still export all of it. You cannot add or change anything until you subscribe. Nothing is deleted, and if you subscribe a month later you carry on exactly where you stopped.
4. What it costs
Prices are in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and are quoted exclusive of GST, which is added at the rate in force at the time. Your price is the one we agreed with you in writing when you were invited, and it is shown on your account.
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance from the day you subscribe. We may change the price with at least 30 days' notice by email. If a new price does not suit you, cancel before it takes effect and the old one applies until then.
5. Paying
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us — we never see, hold or store a card number, and there is nowhere in StagingPlan that one could be typed. Stripe is a payments provider certified to the PCI DSS standard, and its own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment itself.
The site runs over HTTPS throughout.
6. Stopping
You can cancel at any time, from the billing link in the app, which opens Stripe's own portal. No notice period, no phone call, no form to fill in.
When you cancel you keep full use of StagingPlan until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that the account becomes read-only, exactly as an expired trial does. We do not refund the unused part of a month — you have the whole month you paid for, and you are not charged again.
If a payment fails, nothing happens to you that day. Stripe retries a failed payment over about two weeks and you keep working the whole time. A card that expires on a Friday will not stop you at an open home on the Saturday. Only when the period you paid for has run out and the payment still has not gone through does the account become read-only.
We may end this agreement, or suspend an account, if you do not pay after those retries have run out, or if clause 8 is being broken. Other than for non-payment we will give you 30 days' notice by email first, and your export still works throughout.
7. Your information stays yours
Everything you put into StagingPlan — your inventory, your jobs, your photographs, your clients' details, your proposals and invoices — belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it and we do not sell it, licence it, or use it to advertise anything.
You can export the lot, at any time, from inside the app — a complete download of your own data including the photographs. That export keeps working after you cancel and after a trial expires. The way out is never the thing we take away.
If you want your data deleted, email us and we will do it and confirm when it is done. Deletion is permanent, and we will say so again before we start.
We look at the contents of your account only when you ask us to — to help with a problem you have reported, or to fix a fault. When that happens the app shows a bar across the top of the screen saying so, and it is written to your account's own log where you can see it afterwards.
8. The people whose details you put in
StagingPlan holds your clients' details on your behalf. Under section 11 of the Privacy Act 2020 that information is treated as being held by you, not by us — which means the obligations under that Act for those people are yours.
So: you confirm that you are entitled to put those details in, and that you will handle the resulting obligations — including telling people, where you need to, that you hold information about them and why. Since 1 May 2026 the Privacy Act has had a specific rule about information collected from somewhere other than the person themselves (IPP 3A), which is exactly what a vendor's name and address in a job is. We explain what that means in practice, and the exceptions that will usually apply, in our privacy policy.
You also agree not to use StagingPlan to break the law, to store anything unlawful, or to attempt to reach another company's data. Every company's data is separated at the database layer and attempting to get past that will end your account immediately.
9. What we promise, and what we do not
We will look after your data as carefully as we look after our own, keep the software working, and fix faults promptly. Our privacy policy says where your data is held and who can reach it.
What we do not promise is that it will never be unavailable. StagingPlan runs on commercial shared hosting and there is no guaranteed uptime figure in this agreement, because one we could not honour would be worth nothing. In practice it is available essentially all the time, and outages are rare, short and announced. If that ever stops being true we will say so here rather than quietly leave this paragraph up.
We take backups. You should still take your own export from time to time, because the only copy nobody can lose on your behalf is the one you are holding.
10. If something goes wrong
You are acquiring StagingPlan for the purposes of a business. The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 therefore does not apply, and to the extent the law allows, both of us agree it is contracted out of. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot lawfully be limited.
Where we are liable to you, our total liability for everything arising in any twelve month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits.
That cap is not a shrug. It is the ordinary arrangement for software costing a few hundred dollars a month, and it is why clause 7 gives you an export that always works: the real protection against anything going wrong here is that you can always take your data and go.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you — anything about price, your data, or how you leave — we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Smaller corrections take effect when we post them, and every version is dated at the top of this page.
If you do not accept a change, cancel before it takes effect. Carrying on using StagingPlan after that date means you accept it.
12. Which law
New Zealand law applies, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction. If something goes wrong, email us first — nearly everything is a misunderstanding that one conversation fixes, and neither of us wants the alternative.
13. Getting in touch
[email protected] · Auckland, New Zealand. Privacy questions are answered in our privacy policy, which also explains how to complain to the Privacy Commissioner if we have not sorted something out.
